Brigitte Bardot’s journey to motherhood was anything but ordinary. In 1960, she gave birth to a son, Nicolas Jacques Charrier, with actor Jacques Charrier. However, Bardot was not interested in the role of mother at all. He made it clear early on that he was downplaying his responsibilities. “I’d rather have a puppy,” he joked at a press conference*.
Bardot and Charles’ relationship quickly ended. They divorced in 1962. Jacques Charrier has been granted custody of his youngest son. Bardot was not ready to become a mother. he knows. Years later she admitted “I wasn’t mature enough to take care of a child.”
Her feelings about the pregnancy itself were even darker. Bardot never revealed her experiences in her 1996 memoir, Initial B.B.. She described her pregnancy as “a tumor growing inside me.” He considered his son “the target of my misfortune”. Even for him, these were controversial claims.
For many years there was no contact between mother and son. There was silence. Then in 2018, things changed. According to reports, they visit each other every year. The gap is not yet completely filled, but the door is open.
